THE CLASSIC ADIRONDACK CHAIR
...QUITE POSSIBLY
AMERICA'S FINEST ADIRONDACK CHAIR
Here's an American classic, made right here in Vermont the
way they once were. Our Adirondack chairs will even outlast you!
Adirondack chairs were first
made famous at the great estate "camps" in upstate New York, Vermont and New
Hampshire. It's still possible to find one of the original versions out on
the decks of these grand old lodges. Some are nearly a century old.
Sadly, newer versions are lightly framed, hastily assembled and
destined for undistinguished wobbly lives.
We're confident that
our Hero's Welcome Adirondack Chairs (shown here with an optional ottoman) will be the last ones you'll ever
buy. That is, unless you come back for more, which often happens.
They are made of extra thick
"five quarter" native white cedar. The thickness makes all the difference
in stability, style and endurance. Lay a ruler on almost all the
competitive chairs out there, and you'll find the frame slats to be 3/4" or
sometimes even less. That same ruler, laid upon our chair will mark a full
inch of wood supporting you on all surfaces.
White cedar is renowned for
outdoor durability. Cedar can be left in
its natural state to age...or "silver".......or it can be stained or painted.
Our chairs arrive at your door au natural. They
also arrive with galvanized bolts, and specially
coated screws.
And did we mention comfort?
Oh my...this chair creates doubts about ever going back to work! The
rounded back, the wide armrests and the curved bottom seat will embrace you like
only your mother once did.
Our chairs are built to last. Envision your great grandkids, sitting in a pair of them and swapping stories
about the ol' man who bought them decades before.
We build them here in Vermont, and begin by milling the white cedar trees as
they arrive from nearby forests.*
Set one on your lawn, porch, or
near the stone fireplace. Slip into it and catch the first rays of sun
over the mountains. Better still,
place your evening libation on the generous side arm and
toast day's end.
The Classic Adirondack is boxed and ready to ship
anywhere in the world. The assembly is simple, and the instructions
are clear. You can put a chair together, in less than
15 minutes without exotic tools.
We
often sell them in pairs or sets of four. Recently,
one of our customers bought eighteen for the porch of his Vermont Inn.

Need a foot rest? Sure you do!
The Hero's Welcome Adirondack Ottoman is made from the same heavy-duty "five-quarter" cedar and
arrives fully assembled. Some folks buy fewer ottomans than chairs, such
as a pair of ottomans to distinguish four or six chairs.
But we've also seen paired sets lined up along a summer deck and they look
positively Up East!

Vermont's forests are in good shape. By the 1890 census, farmers had
cleared 80% of state land, leaving 20% in forest. Today, that percentage
has been reversed. Today, 80% of Vermont land is forested. |
